Flight Stands

Fly with the Best - Fly Topgun!©

Add some action and excitement to your tabletop dogfights with our versatile Dogfight 3-D Flight Stands ©.  As you can see, they permit virtually any attitude of flight to be represented, including inverted maneuvers, attach quickly to your aircraft miniatures, and are easily adjusted to help speed play.

Aerial Wargaming with miniatures is all about the aesthetics of seeing great looking models, or miniatures twisting and turning in a furious dogfight over the tabletop.  Don't settle for merely having your aircraft fly straight and level on the gametable, as if on parade - that is not only boring, but also dangerous to your pilots' health.  No self-respecting fighter pilot would even think of doing such a thing when enemy aircraft are present in the area, so we don't think you should either.

Our Dogfight 3-D Flight Stands © were developed out of the need to quickly permit changes in altitude and attitude on the gametable, while using a great set of aerial rules.  We tried the fixed 2-D Flight Stands using dice, chits, or record-keeping on paper to keep track of altitude levels, but none worked to our satisfaction.  We also tried using a thin, adjustable-height rod system, switching these out as needed for altitude changes too.  None of the above worked as well as we had hoped, since they were all too cumbersome, unsightly, or time consuming.

That is when we settled on our current system of using telescoping antennae with swiveling heads, which extend from 7" to 22" in height, and can be used in conjunction with our altitude dials.

This combination is the current state of the art system for representing 3-D combat on the gametable, since you can represent as many as 500 - 900 levels of flight easily, with no record-keeping of the altitudes required on paper, and your aircraft miniatures can be placed in virtually any attitude desired, including even inverted flight.  That permits you to represent 50,000 - 90,000 feet of altitude, in 100 foot increments.

There is no longer any need to have to search for, or suffer with messy chits, or dice on the tabletop, taking away from the aesthetics of your games.  There is also less confusion, since in a close-in dogfight with the other systems, it is sometimes unclear which dice or chits belong to which aircraft.  Additionally, there is no need to stop play to record the heights of your aircraft on paper, which is more like an exercise in accounting than a fun and furious dogfight.

With our Dogfight Flight Stand System © you can concentrate on the enjoyment of the game, and the tactics needed to defeat your opponent(s), instead of worrying about recording height data, or trying to find the right altitude chits.

To change heights, you simply turn the altitude dial(s) to the desired level, and extend, or retract the antennae slightly, as needed.  Nothing could be quicker, or simpler.

3” Based Dogfight 3-D Flight Stand (TM)with a swivel-headed magnetic antenna, a clear, hex base, mounting hardware, and a clear plastic altitude dial (this set works well for most WWII and modern metal fighters in 1/300th scale, and for most plastic models in 1/144th scale).  $9.75 Each

4” Based Dogfight 3-D Flight Stand (TM)as above, but with a larger, 4” diameter base, which provides more stability for 1/76th scale WWI die-cast aircraft, plastic 1/72nd scale WWII single-engine fighters, 1/100th scale WWII Corgi die-cast metal fighters, as well as heavy 1/300th planes like WWII four-engine bombers, and modern fighters like the Su-27, and F-15, etc.).  $10.75 Each

5" Based Dogfight 3-D Flight Stand (TM) - as above, but with a 5" diameter base, for the ultimate in stability.  This base provides approximately 50% more stability than our 4" based model, and is recommended for 1/48th scale WWII and modern aircraft, and for larger, heavier diecast metal miniatures.  $11.99 Each

Rare-earth mini-magnets for your aircraft miniatures (Only needed for the aircraft for the 3-D stands).  The magnets are available in 3mm and 6mm sizes.  The smaller magnets are better for smaller, light planes, while the larger ones are better suited for larger, heavier models.  Inquire if you need assistance in selecting the right ones for your models and miniatures.  $0.25 Each

We provide a 10% discount on these, when you purchase 50 or more, and a 15% discount for 100 or more magnets purchased at one time.

Altitude Dials (already included with the 3-D Flight Stand Kits), when sold separately.  $1.50 Each

Supplemental Altitude Dials (sold separately - use with our other Altitude Dials to gain more levels of flight for your aerial games.  There permit a ten-fold increase in flight levels.)  $0.50 Each

We recommend that these only be used with the regular altitude dials listed above, since they are lightweight, and prone to spinning on their own, otherwise.  You can use them to represent aircraft speed, damage points remaining, ammo used, or pair them with our normal altitude dials, in order to get 500 – 900 levels of altitude instead of just 50 – 90 levels.  When used in this manner, we call the dials our Flight Stand Altimeter System ©.

Altimeter System © Dialsa set of both of our altitude dials, which when used together permit you to represent 100 different levels of altitude for your aerial games.  $1.99 Set

When used in conjunction with our telescoping antennae, you can get many more levels of altitude, e.g. 500 levels with our five antennae sections, or 900 levels when using the nine half- sections of the antennae.

2-D Strafing Bases © these consist of a small, round 1.25” diameter base, a clear plastic vertical stalk, and a clear, plastic altitude dial (as listed above – marked 0 – 9).  These also include a small 3mm magnet to glue to the top to mount your planes.  Superglue is required to glue the stalks to the base, and an X-acto knife, or small needle file is needed too.  Instructions for assembly are provided.  They are supplied randomly with .625” and 0.75” long stalks.  $1.99 Each
